Craig Parker

After leaving Edgewater College at 15yrs, I started my apprenticeship with Dave Tapper, a Shipwright who had turned his hand to building. I completed my apprenticeship with Dave in 1989 and after a year I went on to work for two years with Steve Cleary who is a respected residential builder. I left New Zealand and worked in Hong Kong as an R and D officer with RSK, a fledgling computer database company.

I returned to New Zealand in 1994 and formed my first company, Parker Builders Ltd, doing small renovations around Auckland. I then joined forces with Dave Tapper again and we built Devonport Builders into a successful Auckland building company. It was during the renovation of the Auckland Grammar schools principal’s residence that I met Brent Varley. We worked together on that project and many others.

In 2001, A year or so after leaving Devonport Builders, Brent and I formed Evolution Builders which has proved to be a winning combination!

I met my wife, Katherine and we now have two boys, Liam and Nathan. We are an outdoor family and enjoy sailing in summer and rugby in winter.

I am a keen sportsman and, as such, have always enjoyed the physicality of building. I am passionate about building and really enjoy getting stuck in. I also enjoy problem solving and coming up with new and innovative ways to achieve a great end result.

I am a mad keen sailor and when I’m not building, I am racing or cruising on the Hauraki Gulf.
